A REVIEW OF FOTONA 4D - THE NON-INVASIVE LASER FACE LIFT

Having reached my mid 40 ’ s and having implemented a minimal skincare regime up until now , the ageing process unfortunately had started and I was horrified to see jowls developing – it was now time to start turning back time . So I decided I needed a treatment to address my jowls .
Having had no previous treatment ( laser , botox , injectables etc ), my number 1 concern was choosing a clinic that I could trust . Having researched various clinics , I chose SDS Rejuvenate as it was run by Doctors Sally & Ian Jones , which offered me huge reassurance that any treatment I received would be effective but ultimately safe .
The Consultation At my free consultation , I explained what I was looking to improve on my skin , and that I needed a non-surgical treatment with no downtime . Dr Sally recommended the Fotona 4D Laser Facelift . This is a non-surgical natural face lift procedure that treats both the interior and exterior facial structures . It is a four-step non-invasive laser procedure which helps to boost collagen production , smooth fine lines and wrinkles , and tightens skin – and most importantly for me would address my jowls . This ticked all my boxes , so I booked in for a course of 4 treatments over a 4-month period .
First Treatment Day I arrived at SDS and was greeted by Marie , who made me feel at ease about the treatment . After I was given consultation forms to complete , I was taken for a baseline skin scan analysis with my therapist Emily . We then moved in to the laser room where my 4D Laser Facelift was to be performed and I was made very much at ease . Emily reiterated what this treatment involved i . e . the 4 stages and how each stage would feel . We were ready to go !
STAGE 1 : INTRAORAL TIGHTENING Despite Emily ’ s reassurance , I was still a little apprehensive with regards to having a laser shone inside my mouth but she was absolutely right , I did not feel anything at all and I was soon totally relaxed and almost excited as she explained that this treatment targets the oral cavity around the inside of the mouth and cheeks to plump and give volume to the nasolabial folds and marionette lines . She also explained it treats any facial laxity by stimulating collagen from inside the mouth .
STAGE 2 : REJUVENATION I was advised that the second stage uses a laser beam that targets deeper imperfections such as scarring , texture , and tone , wrinkles , hyperpigmentation , but also tightens the skin . Sounded good to me ! This stage felt warm , the heat built up very slowly as Emily carried out the procedure , and she regularly checked with me how warm it felt but also checked my skin with a special skin thermometer . I couldn ’ t believe it when she told me we were reaching temperatures of 40 degrees , it certainly didn ’ t feel that hot .
STAGE 3 : SKIN TIGHTENING This stage felt very similar in that it felt warm as she shone the light on my face and neck in a brushing technique and again the temperature of my skin was regularly checked . This is a treatment that feels very similar to skin tightening by radio frequency . This is actually the skin tightening part of the treatment .
STAGE 4 : LASER PEEL The last stage was a superficial laser peel which helps the appearance of fine lines , wrinkles , and open pores . Emily advised me that I would hear a rapid clicking noise as she moved across my skin starting at the jawline and finishing at my forehead . Up until now all the stages had been relatively relaxing but this final procedure felt more intense although I confess there was no discomfort as promised !
SPF was applied to my face and neck . Before I was given a mirror , I was advised I was looking a little pink which is as expected but it was explained that this would subside in the next couple of hours . I was told to expect slight flaking of my skin in the next two or three days and that this would only be apparent to myself and not to others looking at me . I was told to expect that I should see some immediate plumping of the skin but then over the next few weeks would begin to notice the lifting and improvement in the tone and texture of my skin .
The Results Less than 24 hours after the treatment , my skin felt comfortable with minimal redness and dryness . I experienced very slight flaking and I would say I felt like I had slight sunburn . I followed the aftercare advice and this settled down within a couple of days . My skin did feel tighter and smoother and I noticed how much better my makeup sat on my skin .
After 2 weeks , my skin looked really good , no pores , increase in tone and improvement to jawline – which improved my jowls . I was extremely satisfied and pleased with the outcome .
I was told that most patients see immediate results , with improvements in tone , texture , and tightness that begin to show a few weeks after the first treatment – which to my delight I did and I received comments from family and friends about how great my skin was looking .
I attended 3 further appointments and overall , I am amazed by the results which should last from 6 to 12 months or longer . My jowls have improved and I ’ m feeling more confident with my new improved skin and jawline .
