On 31st August 2023 , Bernadette & Walter Hayes embarked on the remarkable journey of renewing their vows on their 60th wedding anniversary . It was a poignant moment not just for them , but for all the family who have been touched by their enduring love story .
The institution of marriage is a profound union , a bond woven with threads of love , trust , and resilience . This amazing couple have exemplified these virtues throughout their lives together , weathering storms and sharing countless moments of joy . Their commitment to each other has been unwavering , a testament to the power of their love for each other .
At just 18 & 19 years old , the happy couple said “ I DO ” at Holy Cross Church in Birkenhead . Now 60 years later , surrounded by their family and friends , Wally & Bernie renewed their vows at St Werburgh ’ s Church in Birkenhead during a beautiful service with Father Ray .
The day was made even more special when close friends , Carole , Pauline and Margaret presented Bernie with a framed Papal Blessing to commemorate this very special occasion .
