NEW BUSINESSES FLOURISH UNDER WIRRAL START-UP SUPPORT PROGRAMME
In the last two years , Wirral Chamber of Commerce has successfully supported over 500 Wirral residents who aspire to create their businesses with fully funded support .
Over the two years , the funded support programme has led to over 200 businesses being created and 240 jobs being generated within Wirral , which is a testament to how residents get behind new businesses , two are Devina ’ s Mauritian Kitchen and Local Post Solutions .
Local Post Solutions After 16 years as a postman and a lifetime of working for others . At the age of 48 Paul had a great idea to improve and revolutionise how we send post and parcels locally . The one big challenge he faced was he had zero experience in any form of business .
Paul East From Local Post Solutions said “ A relative mentioned the support from Wirral Chamber of Commerce to me and after a quick phone call , I was asked to call in for a meeting . From that point the information , the coaching , and the ideas from business plan to marketing to website design through meetings and free and plentiful tutorials Local Postal Solutions was born . I can honestly say without their help I don ' t think I would have been able to get the business off the ground .”
“ We now deliver mail , leaflets and parcels more efficiently and help support many local businesses , services , schools and charities save money every week with postal costs .”
“ I also now have the pleasure of visiting their wonderful HQ Egerton House several times a month when I pick up local mail from one of the many businesses that work inside . Always a warm welcome and a friendly face with great advice , they really have made a huge impact on my first journey into business . They say there ' s a fine line between success and failure , Wirral Chamber of Commerce have ensured that I am on the right side of the fine line .”
“ Anyone thinking of starting a business has a great idea but don ' t know how to convert it , if you have a new business that might benefit from some guidance or if you have areas of your business or yourself that need strengthening . I would say it ' s an absolute necessity that you contact the Chamber , it ' s fully funded by Wirral Borough Council and incredibly helpful and could be the defining difference between success and failure .”
Devina ’ s Mauritian Kitchen Devina ’ s Mauritian Kitchen was born out of lockdown , with a passion for cooking homely Mauritian food , Devina started a takeaway business from home .
While the takeaway business was bringing her a steady income , growth was identified by the team at Wirral Chamber , soon after Devina started to attend weekend markets across the borough and host pop-ups in different venues across Wirral .
Shortly into the business journey , Devina became a regular at Woodside Ferry Village , which she then called home for over 12 months developing a strong customer base , Now Devina ’ s Mauritian Kitchen is based in Pacific Road Business Hub , offering a variety of Mauritian dishes and breakfast , with plans to expand services with a takeaway service for the Wirral community to enjoy .
Devina Added “ I can ’ t thank Wirral Chamber enough for supporting my small business , from cooking at home to Woodside and now at Pacific Road . Wirral Chamber inspired me to believe in myself , with advice around finances to marketing . Now I am a successful small business on the Wirral with all the support and help from the Chamber .”
Paula Basnett , Chair of The Board , Wirral Chamber of Commerce added “ It is great to see so many people embrace the journey of entrepreneurship , new businesses are vital to the local economy , and they are often focused on how they can help impact the Wirral and grow to the benefits of those in the local community .
