Tom Spence from the Wirral has left audiences spellbound across the globe with his stunning vocals and mesmerising performances from the world of Musical Theatre , Cinema , Classical Crossover and beautiful reworking of carefully chosen repertoire from some of the world ’ s greatest songwriters . Wirral Life catches up with Tom with a Q & A at the start of a land mark year .
For those who don ’ t know you , tell us about yourself .
My name is Tom Spence , I live here on the Wirral . I was a Prenton / Oxton lad growing up . I now live in Barnston with my wife and our two little boys . I ’ m a big football supporter , my team is Tranmere Rovers , I love to travel and I ’ m a singer !
Where did it all start for you with your singing career ?
I was into drama from an early age so I joined Act One Theatre School at Thingwall Recreation Centre . I was involved in many local amateur dramatic societies and it just built from there .
Tell us about your career and where you perform ?
My career which is now spanning 25 years has seen me perform at so many incredible events and concerts . I ’ ve been so blessed to perform in all of our regions greatest venues ; The Philharmonic Hall , St Georges Hall , The Empire Theatre , Liverpool ’ s Anglican and Metropolitan Cathedrals and of course our beloved Floral Pavilion Theatre . Every year my band and I come together for our annual Christmas show which is always a highlight of my year . I spend a lot of time out of the country so it ’ s great to be at home and sing for a local audience . In 2023 we held it at Heswall Hall . It was absolutely fantastic . We ’ ll be taking the show back there this year so look out for the dates as it always sells out !
You mentioned that you are out of the country a lot , tell us more .
I perform on cruise ships that take me to some incredible places right across the globe . It can be hard being away from my family but I feel so blessed to be able to do what I love as a job . The theatres on the ships are incredible , seating up to 1400 people with state of the art sound and lighting . I ’ m currently preparing to take my brand new show on Seabourn Venture . The voyage takes me from Ushuaia , Argentina to Cape Verde via The Falkland Islands , South Georgia Islands , St Helena and Ascension Island . I ’ m pretty excited about this one !
What is your greatest achievement in music ?
I ’ ve been on the same bill and shared the stage with some incredible artistes . To be at that level performing amongst singers like ; Russell Watson , Katherine Jenkins , Bryn Terfyl , Samantha Barks is pretty special . I ’ ve headlined my own shows and gained a really strong following who support me in all that I do . I ’ m fortunate enough to travel the world , take in some amazing destinations and perform in beautiful theatres but above all of that I think my greatest achievement is simply being able to provide a nice life for my family doing what I love doing , which is to sing .

White ( with a bit of blue , my wife ’ s grandad played for Everton back in 1947 ) This year you hit a landmark birthday , the big 40 ! You ’ re celebrating with a big show . Tell us about that . On Friday 26th April , I ’ ll be performing at The Floral Pavilion Theatre , New Brighton to mark my 40th Birthday . I ’ ll have the full band with me and joined by some incredible guests ; the Luminelles Choir , Natalie Hayes and Beau Dermott . What better way to celebrate my birthday , singing at my local theatre in front of a home crowd . It ’ s going to be a very special night , not to be missed !
