Panoramic 34 , set 300 feet above sea level on the 34th floor of the West Tower in Liverpool is one of the UK ’ s highest fine dining restaurants . Serving , lunch , dinner , cocktails and afternoon tea ’ s , which was recently voted 4th best in the UK , guests can enjoy the magnificent Liverpool skyline whilst enjoying a sumptuous menu .
We were delighted to be invited to try the brand new four course taster menu created by Owner Cathy Frost , Chefs Medhi and Chris with GM David Beaufort-Dysart ( who readers will remember as not only an excellent sommelier - but also our very own whisky expert columnist ), who guided us through a considered whisky board finale after dessert .
And so we begin ... Homemade Bread : Sourdough Rolls & Rye , served with ‘ Field to Fork ’ Butter , which is made on the Wirral , churned from local cows and hand moulded .
1 . Guinea Fowl Galantine , Poached pear , Crispy kale . 2 . Seared King Scallops , Hazelnut , Pressed apple , Crab sauce , Caviar . 3 . Venison Loin , Blackberry , Malted Cauliflower , Game Faggot . 4 . Halibut , Romanesco , Swiss chard , Beurre blanc , Dill . Sides : Smoked garlic greens beans , Radish endive , Chicken fat hash brown . Dessert : Crispy peanut , Banana , Chocolate mousse , Banana sorbet . Wines : Soave Pra ( Verona , Italy ) Rioja Reserva Valenciso 2016 and a Gusbourne Fine English Rose . Whisky Board : Harmony blended whisky ( Japanese ) Ardbeg 10 , Islay , Scotland , Red Breast 12 yo ( Irish single pot ).
Everything was spectacular as always , If you ' ve not tried this new menu , you really must , delivered with a consistent creative level of panache that ’ s rare in our region , maintaining it ’ s place as one of the best in the UK . It ' s not just for special occasions , and at 300 feet high with stunning views , it ' s a genuinely unique experience .
