As we navigate the challenges of 2023 , it is evident that our business community has faced its fair share of obstacles . Recently , we had the privilege of hosting an insightful event in partnership with the Bank of England . This event not only shed light on the ongoing struggles businesses are encountering but also provided valuable forecasts for the future .
Allow me to share some key takeaways from this event :
Inflation Insights : Inflation is expected to follow a particular trajectory . By 2025 Q2 , it is anticipated to drop to approximately 2 %, offering a glimpse of stability . However , by year-end , it is expected to hover around 5 %. Notably , energy prices , which previously heavily contributed to inflation , are now less impactful .
Services Sector : The services sector currently stands as the largest contributor to inflation , accounting for approximately 2 % to 3 % of the overall inflation rate . Projections suggest that it will continue to exert pressure on pricing .
Recruitment and Pay Growth : Encouragingly , recruitment pressures have eased , leading to smoother role fulfilment . However , the persistent growth in pay levels poses challenges for local firms .
Unemployment Projections : Unemployment rates are projected to rise to approximately 4.85 % in 2025 , reflecting evolving dynamics in the labour market .
