RESIDENTS AT LEAR HOUSE IN WEST KIRBY ENJOYED A BUSY JUNE WITH LOTS OF ENTERTAINMENT AND ACTIVITIES
Wirral Life caught up with Ailsa Wright , manager at Abbeyfield in West Kirby , to find out what their residents had been up to over the last few months .
Ailsa said : " We spent an afternoon with The Owl Man ( John Hawkins ) and his owls Sam , Holly and Otis . John told us all about the owls and lots of people asked questions about them . Everyone got the chance to meet the owls close up and stroke them .
" Anyone who wanted to was able to put on one of the gauntlets and hold one of the smaller owls . It was a completely new experience for everyone and something they really enjoyed .
" Now that the weather is getting warmer we have spent several afternoons in our specially designed sensory garden . It ’ s located at the back of Lear House and is accessed by a lift from the main building . It is secluded and quiet and safe for everyone to enjoy . So far we have enjoyed music , quizzes , ice cream , cold drinks and strawberry smoothies outside ! We ’ re looking forward to spending more time in the garden as the summer goes on ."
