AT LAST – THE FIRST SPADE IN THE GROUND …
Our inside man at Tranmere Rover Rovers , Martyn Best , has some very exciting news to report about the Tranmere Garden .
Many of us will have been at the recent Grand National at Aintree .
We all love the anticipation of the two earlier days of racing before Saturday dawns , and then we love the gradual build-up of the preliminary races , and then the main event arrives . We love seeing the horses enter the parade ring , the run down to the starting line , and what seems like a long shuffling of our fourlegged friends as they jostle and bump , and line up , glistening and eager , and ready for the those wonderful words – AND THEY ’ RE OFF !
And those very same words can now be uttered in respect of the build for the new fan park at Tranmere Rovers – named TRANMERE GARDEN , and soon to be one of the most talked about hospitality venues not only on the Wirral , but we expect throughout the UK .
It has been nearly three years since the idea was first mooted , and that moot is now turning into a reality .
Earlier last month , the Mayor of Wirral , Jeff Green , was invited to help with the first dig and prepare the ground for what will be the foundations for the first arch . He was supported by William Franklin of our commercial partners and representing German Kraft Beer , Mark Palios , Executive Chairman of the club , Martyn
Best , Associate Director who has been involved from that very first mooting , and Ben Harrison , Chair of the Tranmere Rovers Trust .
The Lord Mayor was very impressed with the progress that this project has made and confirmed that this would be a valuable addition to the Tranmere Rovers matchday experience , but a huge addition to the hospitality offering on the Wirral .
“ This is yet another example of the exciting activity that is occurring on the Wirral and I offer my congratulations to not just the commercial partners who have helped this project come to life , but also of course to the many Tranmere fans who have been so supportive with helping fund this project and amazing development .”
The newly named TRANMERE GARDEN is now well under construction , with all foundations being nearly completed , and the first key materials arriving over the next few weeks . Logistics and weather permitting , there is every hope for completion in early Autumn . Whilst this will be a little late for the start of the new season , it ’ s not going to be too late for what should be a very buoyant Christmas period . As William Franklin said , “ Who knows – we may even be ready for a wonderful Oktoberfest in October , and what better event with which to launch this wonderful venue .”
