WIRRAL ' S TALENTED THEATRE DIRECTORS AWARDED PRESTIGIOUS AWARD
Ruth Stenhouse and Stuart Rathe , two talented theatre directors from the Wirral , have been awarded the prestigious Northwest NODA award for their outstanding work with Neston Players directing The Railway Children .
The award is a recognition of their exceptional contribution to the world of theatre , and their dedication to bringing quality productions to the local community .
Straight off the back of winning their award in Blackpool the pair could be found sharing their directorial talents in rehearsals for Julius Caesar , which they are directing with the Hillbark Players .
The Hillbark Players are a community theatre group based on Wirral , and they have been staging productions for nearly 60 years and Julius Caesar is their celebratory birthday performance ! The group is known for their commitment to producing high-quality shows , and for their dedication to nurturing local talent . Ruth and Stuart have been a part of the group for several years , and their contributions have been invaluable in helping to maintain the group ' s reputation for excellence .
The Hillbark Players production of Julius Caesar comes at an auspicious time , as 2023 marks the 400th anniversary of the first folio , the first collection of Shakespeare ' s plays . This milestone event is a testament to the enduring legacy of Shakespeare ' s work , and to the importance of theatre in our culture .
Ruth and Stuart ' s work with the Hillbark Players is a testament to the power of community theatre , and to the transformative effect that theatre can have on both actors and audiences alike .
Whilst the story of Julius Caesar is well-known , Hillbark Players are bringing a fresh new take on it , exploring what happens when people have or seek power . The production is set in a world that melds the architecture of Ancient Rome with an industrial , modern feel – featuring live music and a talented cast made up of established Hillbark talent and brand-new faces .
As we look ahead to the next 400 years of Shakespearean theatre , we can take comfort in the fact that there are talented directors like Ruth and Stuart who are dedicated to keeping the Bard ' s work alive and relevant . Their award is a reminder that the power of theatre is as strong as ever , and that the future of the art form is in good hands .
You can watch Julius Caesar at Royden Park Wirral from 19th - 24th June .
