BIPC EMBARKS ON 2023 PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITY
Geraldine Fuller talks about the Lifeline in Libraries available for businesses
Last month was a particularly busy one for the BIPC team as we embarked on our 2023 programme of activity . This year we ’ re delivering a packed calendar of new events and other initiatives designed to help people protect their ideas , start , or grow their business . Everyone from sole traders through to directors of multi-million-pound companies can use our services so we try and ensure we have a broad range of topics and experts in place .
Many of the people visiting us at the Business & Intellectual Property Centre are coming to access help with trademarks , setting up their business and other advice around survival and growth . Some want to explore specific markets and conduct market research if they are raising finance and writing a business plan . The databases we have are free to use and very powerful . Anyone can come in and download a guide on setting up their own business and they can also access real-time industry data and in-depth information on specific companies , markets and countries .
The community of BIPC supported people has grown massively and the regular events we host give us the chance to ask business owners about the economic climate and the specific challenges they are facing .
At the moment , advice on sales and business development seems to be a top priority . It was great to introduce the internationally renowned speaker Andy Bounds for a special online session on this topic . Andy focused on mindset and had everyone gripped for 90 minutes sharing his experience and giving people practical tips and advice to improve their revenue . His energy and passion is infectious and all the businesses left the session inspired and energised and it was great to read 100 % positive feedback from the attendees .
Cash flow remains top of every business owner ’ s agenda and the mantra ‘ cash is king ’ holds true for every sector . But when borrowing becomes harder , credit is withdrawn or the loss of a customer plunges the company ’ s bank account into crisis , mindset and staying on top of mental health vital .
Running a business can be lonely , frightening and isolating . Few entrepreneurs haven ’ t encountered some threats to survival at some stage in their journey .
Taking the right steps to manage work life balance , maintain physical and mental health and ensure we are fulfilled with the right energy levels to function at our best takes effort . Unfortunately , for most of us it , it doesn ’ t come automatically so expert help is needed .
Wellness and wellbeing thankfully are now topics that are discussed openly in a business environment . The PR afficionado Joel Jelen has recently changed his focus to concentrate fully on the wellbeing sector as a result of his passion for helping entrepreneurs to perform better in a more positive way . For me personally , being a mummy to a four-year-old , juggling a full-time job , running a home , and trying my best to stay fit whilst occasionally finding some downtime remains a constant battle . So , when Joel approached me for a chat about what he was working on to help promote wellbeing in a corporate environment I was fascinated and keen that BIPC Liverpool got involved .
BIPC Liverpool then became a proud partner of Wellness in the City a new initiative led by the inspiring entrepreneur Clare Ellis of Pink Link Ladies .
Wellness in the City was a true first for the City Region . Held in the magnificent surroundings of the SPINE Liverpool – this packed EXPO boasted a day of astounding speakers including the international wellbeing guru Cesar Gamio . BIPC Ambassador Garth Dallas launched the proceedings and journalist Tony McDonough chaired a stimulating and important discussion with Alison Lobb , Managing Partner of Morecrofts , Lee Chamber a former British Entrepreneur of the Year alongside the author and wellbeing expert Kim Rutherford . Another busy month lies ahead but Wellbeing in the City reminded me that we must all make time to focus on our wellness so I am going to implement some of the strategies shared at this great event .
