RESIDENTS AT LEAR HOUSE ENJOYED A BUSY DECEMBER WITH A VARIETY OF ENTERTAINMENT AND ACTIVITIES
Wirral Life caught up with Ailsa Wright , manager at Abbeyfield in West Kirby , to find out what their residents had been up to over the festive season .
Ailsa said : " We spent a very enjoyable afternoon with Liz from ' Flowers by Elizabeth ' making beautiful Christmas silk flower arrangements . Using a range of flowers and foliage our residents built up displays from scratch and the results were amazing ! It was a great opportunity to enjoy being creative together .
" We took part in the Christmas Tree Festival at St Hildeburgh ’ s Church in Hoylake . Some of the decorations were made by the children from the St Agnes Pre-School Group who come to see us regularly and we made the rest . Our decorations recorded our favourite things about Christmas , what we remembered about Christmas in the past , our favourite Christmas carols or songs and also the things that are important to us . It was a great opportunity to talk and exchange memories .
" Our Christmas party was a great , fun occasion with traditional Christmas lunch followed by music from Mark Birch and dancing and even a visit from Father Christmas !
" We continued to enjoy our weekly French sessions with Barbara with a Christmas theme as well as a performance of ‘ Jack and the Beanstalk ’, a head to head quiz between the staff and the residents , a Carol Service and lots of other music and laughter !"
