W BUSINESS L THE EVOLUTION OF THE REVOLUTION Why A Start-Up, Started Over Again Revolution Four didn’t begin as a revolution, far from it. Working in serviced offices within Whitfield Business Hub, Nik & Justine had people from other businesses asking them for bits & bobs. Mainly web development or graphic design one-off jobs initially but over time it gathered momentum. They set up a company as a vehicle to account for these jobs. Without any major ambitions they named it Whitfield Business Support, taken from the building’s name. Over the course of the next year, the business grew. They filled a gap in the market for a creative studio on the Wirral. No big secret to their success, simply doing consistently impressive work. Through careful recruitment they started to build a strong team and view the company with very different eyes. They had graduated from a side line to a proper business. As part of this evolution it became increasingly clear that the name was not reflecting the feel of the company or its team. They made the brave move to completely rebrand & rename just as they were starting to become known. Justine explained, “We were at a tech festival in the Baltic Triangle & noticed loads of badges had such imaginative & cool company names. Ours sounded like we were selling fax machines or telecomunications!” Nik continued, “We decided a radical change in our brand was imperative, so got to work that very evening.” Over the next couple of months the team worked arduously on a name, look & feel. They wanted something that reflected their personalities, something that hinted at what they do in the tech & creative media arenas. They estimate some 250 names later Revolution Four emerged (a nod to the dawn of the forth industrial (technological) revolution - the team love a bit of revolutionary thinking & they provide a 360 degree (revolution) service.) The branding uses exciting colours, with hints of the industrial age in the background spearheaded by a contemporaneous & unique logo. The consequences of the rebrand have been significant. Nik said, “We’ve had more traction, publicity & custom in the few months since we’ve rebranded than in our first two years. It’s separated us from the hub & allowed us to showcase our talents in the creative digital arena.” Justine said, “Working in the marketing industry we were always singing the virtues of getting branding right, but without fully following our own advice. The change has been astonishing, more than Nik & I expected. It’s injected energy & vibrancy into our team, giving them clear focus & direction.” The new branding has been an overwhelming success proving an exponential return on investment for the team. Nik concluded, “The bar is now set high & we want every client to be wowed by the power of branding as much as us.” If you’re looking to refresh or rebrand then have a free consultation with the team. www.revolutionfour.co.uk or call 0151 348 7044 wirrallife.com 85
