RIVER OF LIGHT
The Wirral Borough of Culture celebrations
went out with a bang this year at the hugely
popular River of Light fireworks display at
New Brighton.
50,000 people lined the streets of New
Brighton as the evening turned to nightfall.
Light and sound entertainment wowed
the crowds - with light up drummers, stilt
walkers and marine-themed street theatre
taking over the seaside town.
Set to a specially curated playlist featuring
artists who had performed in the Liverpool
City Region throughout 2019, the annual
fireworks display began.
Once again, the world-renowned Titanium
Fireworks were at the helm of the 15 minute
display, the same company responsible for
London’s New Year’s Eve and Edinburgh’s
Hogmanay celebrations.
Whilst the display took place, the team
behind this Wirral Life Award-winning year
took the opportunity to thank key partners
and ambassadors from the Wirral Borough
of Culture programme, for their support in
making the year a success.
