I want to thank everyone for their patience and support, and we look forward to welcoming guests back and to ensuring that they experience the best in Cinema.” Bemused motorists and pedestrians who saw a giant Teddy Bear walking along New Brighton sea front recently can now discover the reason behind the unusual sight. Wirral Freemason, John Catterall, raised over £3000 for charity by walking the equivalent of a marathon whilst dressed in the giant teddy bear costume, starting the walk during the one hour per day exercise period of lockdown with his wife Nicky acting as his guide. Joe completed his ‘marathon’ effort on New Brighton sea front promenade during the recent spell of hot weather, no mean feat in that heavy costume, but John was quick to say it was all worth it. The charity John supported is Teddies for Loving Care, (TLC), a Freemasons charity which buys hundreds of teddy bears and donates them to local hospitals where the nursing staff gives them to poorly children who they feel would benefit from the special cuddles only a teddy can give. During lockdown, John wanted to use his time wisely and knew it was a big ask to fit the walks in around his daily allowance, and as things eased, so the walks could become a little longer – once completed, John's efforts have already resulted in a supply of Teddy Bears being delivered to local hospitals. wirrallife.com 7
