CHEEKY CHILLI REVIEW
by Nicky Rigby-Smith & Si Hall
This month, we have a review of a very different kind. Think
outside catering and most people would think cheese and
pineapple on cocktail sticks, sausage rolls with a slab of gateau!
Well think again, Cheeky Chilli based in Neston, offer outside
catering services of an extraordinary kind, providing the highest
quality restaurant style food for any bespoke event.
Headed up by Kim and Phil who both have extensive and
impressive experience as restaurateurs and event co-ordinators.
Cheeky Chilli are the sole caterers for 15 venues across Wirral
and Chester. The 60 strong team provide literally everything
from private chef services at dinner parties to huge corporate
events with 1000+ guests. The Wirral Life team went along to try
out their tasting menu.
First Courses: First up was Pea soup with a hard-boiled egg,
crème fraiche and micro herbs. This was presented beautifully
and the egg was a lovely addition to the dish. A surprisingly
substantial portion and a handsome dish for a soup, the flavours
were just stunning. Arguably one of the best soups we've ever
tasted, seriously.
Next was the seabass wonton with cucumber, chilli lime and fresh
watermelon. A very pretty, impressive and delicate dish which
really showed off the talents of the Cheeky Chilli team. Next up
was the Tiger prawns wrapped with rice noodles served with
chorizo and mango marmalade. Again these were sumptuous
and delicious, we would highly recommend this dish.

Second Courses: We opted for the Roast Lamb with coconut
dahl, confit sweet potato and pea, mint, lime samosa. The dish
arrived with the lamb cooked to perfection - served medium.
Packed full of flavour and just mouth-watering. We then tried
the pan fried cod with charred watercress salad, egg yolk, citrus
hollandaise and fish crackling. Wow! The fish crackling was
superb (an interesting and healthier alternative to pork) and the
cod was light and buttery.
For dessert, we tried the Chocolate tart with white chocolate
popcorn and cherry coulis, which was orgasmic! Then the Honey
yoghurt pannacotta with straw
