KINGSMEAD: A SCHOOL OFFERING
INDIVIDUAL TUITION AND
A UNIQUE EXTRA OPTION
As the start of the new academic year approaches, Wirral
families have even more reason to explore Kingsmead
School in Hoylake: it is opening a Sixth Form and will once
again be able to offer flexi-boarding. complements the school’s Learning Development Unit which
supports pupils with dyslexia and dyscalculia. Each creates the
optimum learning environment for pupils, whatever their age
and ability.
The school now accepts pupils from two to 18, offering more
to local families than ever before in its 114 year history. Flexi-boarding will be available for pupils aged from age nine
and is being reintroduced following a break of several years.
This opens the option of home-from-home cover if parents are
called away suddenly – perhaps because of a family or business
emergency - children able to stay on after school for a hot
evening meal and supervised homework, and even a sleepover
if needed.
For the last two years Kingsmead has achieved the best GCSE
results in the area for non-selective schools. At the time of
going to press this year’s results had not been announced,
but in 2016 80% of pupils gained five A*-Cs - 72% including
English, Maths and Science - and last year a staggering 92% of
pupils achieved five or more GCSEs).
Said Headmaster Mark Gibbons: “We accept pupils of all
abilities and whatever their starting point, they achieve highly.
Our excellent performance across the board at GCSE is due
to the amount of individual attention we are able to offer.
Whether children join us in Nursery, during the Junior years
or at the start of the critical years in Seniors, a Kingsmead
education really does make a difference.
“We have the time and the space to give our students a higher
education individually tailored to their strengths and learning
styles and our new Sixth Form will provide 1:1 A Level
tuition. I know of no other location in Wirral which offers
this level of support.” Kingsmead’s Gifted and Talented team
Kingsmead is set in eight acres of leafy grounds and pupils
have their own theatre, cinema, specialist music and drama
studio and indoor heated swimming pool. Former pupils
include financier Nicola Horlick, who gave the address at
last year’s Speech Day, and the BBC’s international art expert
Philip Mould.
The next Open Morning is on Saturday September 22 from
10am-12noon. The morning includes an address by Mr
Gibbons and pupil-guided tours of the campus. All are
welcome.
