SUMMER STRUM 2017
The 3rd Summer Strum charity ukulele festival took place at Hoylake Rugby Club and was a roaring success. Over 2500 people made the most of the sunshine to attend this free outdoor festival that celebrates community and wellbeing through, predominantly, ukulele music!
The Summer Strum welcome party featured music from popular Liverpool band The Splintered Ukes. The following two days were packed with community jam sessions, workshops, open mic, children’ s activities, storytelling, food and drink stalls, artisan sellers and most importantly two stages of live music featuring 40 ukulele bands from the North West and beyond. Highlights were the Trellebelle Ukulele Orchestra from Sweden and a stomping set to finish off the weekend by Parker; Schultz. Over £ 1000 was raised each for Wirral Hospice St John’ s and Wirral Mind through bucket collections, raffle ticket sales and stall holder contributions.
It was a great weekend for all the family, Summer Strum Hoylake will be back with more of the same next July.
