ZACH ' S CHARITY GOLF DAY
Zach ’ s Charity Golf Day was held at Heswall Golf Club on 8th April . The event owed its existence solely to the imagination and endeavour of 14-yearold Zach Webster . Following the sad loss of his grandfather to cancer , Zach ’ s family became heavily involved with Macmillan on the Wirral , raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support . Thinking about how to raise funds for the charity , Zach came up with the idea of a charity golf day . His grandfather , Norman , was a keen golfer and a long-standing member of Wallasey Golf Club . The event was a complete sell out . It was supported and sponsored by an array of local businesses and benefactors . Numerous prizes and auction items were donated . Included were many items of golfing equipment , signed sporting memorabilia , golf for four at both Royal Birkdale and Wallasey Golf Clubs and hospitality for four at the Merseyside derby . A huge effort for an event that raised in excess of £ 7,000 . The winners on the day were : Tom Donnelly , Fin Atack , John Glasstone , Mike Taylor ( team competition ), Ryan Turner ( men ’ s individual winner ) and Dan Stanton ( winner of the junior competition ). A great day , a wonderful charity and , one would think , a very proud grandfather !
