INCUBABIES CELEBRATES A FANTASTIC MILESTONE
In the same year that Incubabies received the Queens Award for Voluntary Services ( QAVS ), which is the highest possible accolade for volunteers ( as it is the equivalent of the MBE ), they have gone on to realise yet another crucial achievement . The charity , which has been working tirelessly to provide critical support services to neonatal babies and sick children since 2017 , has reached its financial target to support the refurbishment of the neonatal unit at Arrowe Park Hospital .
Sheila Clarke , Chair of the Trustees for Incubabies , said : " Reaching this milestone has been a huge boost to the charity and gets us that much nearer to the refurbishment of a 21st century facility . This will become available to some of the region ’ s most vulnerable children and families for many years to come . This facility will surely be welcomed by the local hospital , its staff , and of course the families who unfortunately rely on medical care of this critical nature .
" Furthermore , Incubabies is delighted to have contributed financially to a ground-breaking research project being conducted by the Liverpool Women ’ s and Alder Hey Surgical Unit . The research , which is focused on digestive matters in neonatal and unwell babies , will not only benefit our babies at Arrowe Park but it will also help those much further afield now that the World Health Organisation is showing interest ".
Professor Morgan , who is the lead professional on the overall research project , said " Incubabies is currently fundraising for ground-breaking research for newborn babies needing major surgery and / or that are born very premature . This research funding has brought together expertise from around the region to investigate how to improve nutrition for babies that are too small or too sick to digest milk . The new approach to such medical concerns is designed to help these vulnerable babies fight infection and recover from surgery more effectively . It is anticipated that the research and its subsequent changes in medical practice will positively impact sick children in the UK and even worldwide ."
As a local , Wirral-based charity , Incubabies will continue its efforts as a major contributor to the neonatal unit ’ s refurbishment at Arrowe Park Hospital , as well as state of the art medical equipment needed within the new facility .
In order to make this a reality , every single volunteer of the charity will be engaged in fundraising activities for many years to come . Such an active approach has been the focus of Incubabies ’ efforts over the last 5 years , with the organisation benefiting from the support of local people and sponsor organisations .
Trudi Brooks , Treasurer for the charity , said : " It ’ s important to remember that none of this would be possible without the amazing support of the local community and people further afield with regards to their generous donations and sponsorship . Just some of the incredible sponsors to thank include Hallmark Jewellers , Greasby Primary School , Kallkwik Printers Liverpool , and the local Soroptimists and Freemasons , to name but a few . It is due to the unending support of all contributors that Incubabies has been able to achieve so much over the last few years ."
