THE 6TH ANNUAL MAXI ROY ‘NOBLE ART’
MEMORIAL BOXING TOURNAMENT
Leasowe Castle Hotel was the stunning venue for the
6th Annual Maxi Roy ‘Noble Art’ Memorial Boxing
Tournament hosted by Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club on
Friday 13th March.
The historic location and grand architecture lent itself to
the formal back tie charity sporting event. The evening of
remembrance & friendship was opened with a sobering
rendition of the last post played under the standard of the
Special Boat Service Association. As always the quality of
boxing was outstanding and the atmosphere nerve tingling
as thirteen contests of the highest calibre entertained an
enthusiastic audience. All boxers displayed outstanding
skills determination, sportsmanship and camaraderie.
The Maxi Roy ‘Noble Art’ Best Boxer of the evening was
presented to Charlie Gouldson. The event was supported by
Councillor for Leasowe and Moreton East, Anita Leech, and
her husband Gary. The trophies were presented by Tranmere
Rovers Chairman Nicola & Mark Palios.
Event organiser and Wallasey ABC Chairman Liam
Hanlon said ‘This is a very worthwhile and fulfilling event
in bringing together a number of local businesses, charities
and community organisation in support of the valuable work
being done by the club in engaging with the young people
in our community through the fantastic sport of amateur
boxing. The fundraising continued with raffle prizes donated
by event sponsors and supporters from the Leasowe Castle
Hotel. Lothbury UK were the sponsors of the boxing ring.
Liverpool Heartbeat, tri-4-life, The Forshaw Group Ltd and
Wallasey ABC would like to thank the many sponsors and
supporters for their kind support to host the show.
The entertainment carried on into the early hours with
quality songs from top female vocalist Mandi Fisher.
Wallasey ABC and Maxi Roy’s family would like to thank
everyone involved for their support in delivering an
exceptional show in strengthening all that is great about our
sport, club and community.
