businesses work and it is crucial our services – and service – is top end – always. If our people don’ t deliver it is our patients, our customers that suffer.
What makes Spire Murrayfield different from other private hospitals? The Murrayfield is special- there is a special intimate culture here amongst the team and everyone is committed to delivering on our promise to care for our patients. We all acknowledge that we have differing roles in that but the team only want the best for our customers and that speaks of our commitment to our patients and providing superior facilities to our Consultants, who it can be argued are also our customers.
What are some of the upcoming developments at the hospital that you could tell us about? We are continuing the upgrade of our facilities having just completed a full refurbishment of our theatres and Consulting areas. The restaurant, reception and waiting areas are next and then follows our ward areas and bedrooms.
Over and above this I am keen to see us expand our service offering into direct access diagnostics and increasing the complexity of surgery that we carry out. We have a number of new procedures being undertaken and our range of available diagnostics will also increase into cardiology and sports medicine shortly.
What is your vision for Spire Murrayfield? We wish to be recognised as the private healthcare of choice in the Wirral, North Wales, Chester and Liverpool region.
What do you see as the future of healthcare? Time will tell – but if the politicians can stay out of it, efficiencies can be made and specialised centres, devolved care, shorter stays are all on the horizon. It is an intensely complex industry and is one that is moving forward at a speed which government cannot keep up with and the speed of technological advances cannot be underplayed.
Tell us about your involvement with the local community. I have literally just landed in the Wirral and I am still bedding down into my role. However, we will ensure that the Murrayfield is reintegrated into the community as the private healthcare provider of choice and is present in our community. This by involvement in the local press, sports clubs, Chamber of Commerce, NHS community, schools and corporate companies in the locality.
Are you enjoying being on the Wirral. What do you love the most so far? The environment and the people, I guess that is why people choose to live here. I have said it before- the Wirral has a special feel to it, it’ s a very special place.
How do you like to relax? With my family and on my bike – in that order!
One final thought …‘ It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit’ a quote by Harry S Truman.
