WiregrassSeniorsMagazine.com Ethel and Earl Ethel and Earl were in a jewelry store, in the mall, getting a new diamond ring for Ethel for their 40th wedding anniversary. The clerk was trying to sell them a two thousand dollar ring and Earl was very resistant to the idea. Prior to the clerk getting involved, Ethel and Earl had already decided on, what Earl thought, was a very nice diamond. Although, it was much smaller and cheaper. After a few minutes Ethel said to Earl, “When we got married, we were so young and penni- less and my eyes were so much better all those years ago. This time, honey, I really want a diamond I can see well.” Earl said, “I have a great idea. We’ll buy the small diamond and then run right down to the eyewear store and get you some brand new glasses and save us over $800 dollars.” Page 17
