Dear Readers ,
I love the interaction between the articles and the patients . After last month ' s article about finding shark teeth in some of our local creek beds , I got a cool note from Mrs . Scott with a sampling of her collection of bull shark teeth that she and her husband found on the beaches of California several years ago . Thank you Mrs . Scott !
On a totally different subject , I was cleaning out some of my personal office space , which will amaze my staff , and I found a couple bible verses a friend many years ago copied on a piece of paper and gave me to me . They aren ' t particularly inspirational , but it encourages me that I ' m doing the work of God here on Earth !! In Amos 4:6 ( New King James Version ) it says :
Ask Dr . Gaunt
“ Your Hometown Dentist ”
Also I gave you cleanliness of teeth in all your cities , And lack of bread in all your places , yet you have not returned to me .
Well how about that-We dentists are anointed to make sure that everyone obeys God in keeping your teeth clean , right ? Well , not so fast , other translations help to clarify that " cleanliness of teeth " means that there is no food available to dirty them . Bummer .
The Message ' s version goes like this : You know don ' t you , that I ' m the One who emptied your pantries and cupboards , Who left you hungry and standing in bread lines ? But you never got hungry for me . You continued to ignore me . God ' s Decree . Whoa ! He meant business , huh ? God can be quite creative to get his message across to us . Well , that ' s all the preaching for this month ! Hope you at least found it interesting . And remember : " Cleanliness is next to Godliness " ( unknown author with shiny teeth )
