Ethel and Earl
After much encouraging from his wife , Earl finally agreed to visit his audiologist and get a hearing aid . After the examination , the Audiologist told him that he would definetly need hearing aids and that they range in price from $ 10.00 to $ 2,000 . After explaining in great detail the differences in the quality and craftsmanship in the various options and brands , Earl , decided to take the $ 10.00 pair . The nurse placed the hearing aids into his ears and hung a wire around his neck and Earl proudly went home to show his wife his brand new $ 10.00 hearing aids .
After bragging to Ethel about his huge savings , Ethel finally asked , “ Does that wire really have to be around your neck ?”
“ Why of course !” he replied . “ These things in my ears don ’ t do anything ?! It ’ s the wire around my neck that does the work – it ’ s funny how it just causes people to talk louder to me !”
