Optimizing the OEE of Cable Machinery With Digitized Data The “NIEHOFF Magazine” 2/2018 is out now  Maschinenfabrik Niehoff has published a new issue of its customer magazine ”NIEHOFF Magazine“. The main contribution shows how the optimization of the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of Niehoff machines and Niehoff’s digitizing concept relate to each other and how operating data can be used to optimize their OEE. Next to digitization which is the future, the Niehoff Group is also expanding its activities into larger rotating equipment for stranding wires and cables with bigger cross sections. Some details regarding double twist stranding machines for bigger cables and rigid stranding machines are described in this issue. Further contributions deal with China and India and the economic situation of these markets for the wire and cable industry. For decades, Niehoff has been active now on both markets where its subsidiaries Niehoff Machinery Changzhou (NMC) and Niehoff of India (NoI) build Niehoff machinery under Niehoff license and offer their customers the complete Niehoff service. The magazine describes also the Niehoff exhibits shown at the wire China 2018 and wire India 2018 trade fairs. Two of the numerous companies, with whom Niehoff fosters long-standing relationships, are the Jiangsu Shangshang Cable Group, one of the leading cable manufacturers in China, and the Ram Ratna Group (RR Kabel Ltd.), one of the leading manufacturers of enamelled wires and electric cables in India. As Niehoff machines have always been regarded as of high quality, high performance and stable in value, it is worthwhile to have these machines after years of use overhauled by Niehoff specialists and brought back to the state-of-the-art. As an example the modernization of a rod breakdown machine type M 85 with 60,000 hours of operation is described in this issue.
