NEW! This program guide includes two registration periods, giving families even more opportunities to join the programs they love. By spreading out registration, we’ re able to allow new families access everything NSSRA has to offer.
Winter Registration begins at 10:00 am on Monday, November 17, 2025 and closes at 12:00 pm on Friday, December 5, 2025.
Spring Registration begins at 10:00 am on Monday, February 9, 2026 and closes at 12:00 pm on Friday, February 20, 2026.
To help you stay on track, NSSRA will send reminders by email and a postcard in January. Make sure you’ re signed up for our email alerts at nssra. org / subscribe, and contact the NSSRA front office to confirm we have your current mailing address on file.
Please note: Spring program registrations cannot be accepted during the Winter registration period. If a registration is submitted early, NSSRA staff will kindly follow up to remind you of the correct registration dates.
SHIELD-E BolT-Lig Horseback Riding
Age: 16 and up Min / Max: 4 Location: Equestrian Connection, Lake Forest
Saddle up! Equestrian Connection is a one-of-a-kind stable that provides therapeutic horseback riding opportunities specifically designed for individuals with disabilities. Participants will have three rotations during the program: 20 minutes of riding, groundwork, and social time.
ɢ NSSRA will send a waiver before the program, and you must return it to the NSSRA office by Friday, January 2. ɢ

Goals:
As a safety precaution for all, participants over 250 pounds will do groundwork with horses instead of riding.
Participants must be able to wear an equestrian helmet and gait belt to partake in riding. Participants with physical and medical conditions, please use caution.
Refunds for Horseback Riding are not available after the registration deadline.
