HELLO ALL ! I cannot believe I ' m publishing the Winter Sphinc ter . It feels like I was editing the eSphincter only a few weeks ago !
I ' m sure many people will agree that it ' s been a ver y odd , different year but with all our hard effor ts we ' ve made it work .
This Winter Sphincter is packed with tons of interesting ar ticles from housing and recipes to ar ticles about intercalation and relgious festivals ! There ' s an ar ticle in here for ever yone . I would like to thank ever yone for their hard work and contribution to the Sphincter , without your contributions I wouldn ' t have anything to edit and publish !

A WORD FROM
As this term draws to a close and winter break is fast approaching , let ’ s reflect on what has been some of the most challenging few months in LMSS history . There ’ s been Tier twos , Tier Threes and national lockdowns ; the rule of 6 , social distancing and no household mixing – all things not conducive to our usual jam-packed the first term . Never the less we have done our best and endeavoured to entertain and educate our students as well as raise money for our chosen charities . LMSS FRESHERS WEEK We kicked off the term with The Official LMSS Freshers Week which comprised our annual introductory lecture , Freshers Quiz , LMingo Bingo , and a Liverpool Scavenger Hunt .
THE FRESHERS REACTING IN THEIR YEAR GROUP CHAT

As is LMSS tradition we welcomed the brand new Freshies to Liverpool with a prank lecture on what to expect from their first year in medical school , delivered by previous Mr Treasurer , and current FY1 doctor , Perseus Wace .
There were note-taking and visible ( owing to the correct Zoom etiquette of cameras on audio muted ) gasps of surprise as the Freshers were told to wake up at 6 am to get that critical pre-lecture reading in and to split the cost of the essential piece of equipment – your skeleton model . Being told they only had time for one hour of socialising each day came as a shock , but that was nothing compared to the terrified looks once “ the cull ” was mentioned that would take out 10 % of the cohort at the end of 1st year . A couple of planted dissenters and a committee Zoom bomb later we made it clear this was far from the case and that they should be ready for the best five years of their life . Hopefully , this piqued their interest despite the virtual nature of our introduction !
CHANEL THE AFRICAN GREY WITH HER MA
Throughout the week we organised a cryptic scavenger hunt designed to take the Freshies all around the city and introduce them to some of the most iconic parts of Liverpool . Of course in true Northern style , it was a week full of wind , rain and all-round rubbish weather . Midweek we had an 8 round Quiz complete with a grand prize of £ 50 cold hard cash , the winners managed an incredible 57 / 60 ! We finished off the week with LMingo Bingo , and it was a night that Jonny Bongo would have been proud of , hosted by our fabulous Grand Round Secretaries Ioan and Ben there were Henry Hoovers , LMSS Merchandise and CHANELLLLLLL up for grabs ; it was a perfect way to end a virtual Freshers week .
