The Story of Their Arrival

In the ancient times , the Jade Emperor thought of a way to count the years . He invited the animals to a race , promising that the first 12 animals with have a year named after them . The Rat , which cleverly rode the Ox , won the race easily . Ox came second . Then , the Tiger , Rabbit , Dragon , Snake , Horse , Sheep , Monkey , Rooster , Dog , and Pig followed , each using their own thoughts and wits . This race was how the 12 animals became the Chinese Zodiac .
It was told , that cats were also invited to the race , but due to the rats selfishness , the cat overslept and missed the race . After that , the cat always hated the mouse .
