We spoke with Jennifer about her ex-
perience at the Winter Garden Farm-
ers Market and she said, “it is always
a wonderful time! The people we see
each week are familiar faces who make
it part of their weekend routine to
come enjoy a meal with their families.
I know most of their names, and I love
that.”
marked, “we are super proud of our
whole menu, but the Tamale Sunrise
has to be my top favorite. The original
Sunrise has two chicken tamales with
succulent green tomatillo salsa, sour
cream and chihuahua cheese with two
perfectly cooked sunny side up eggs
with a side of Mexican rice and black
beans. I personally always add chorizo
and some of our chipotle cream sauce!”
And that is what Jennifer and Fernan-
do aim for – to have a family-oriented
business. They feel the WG Market
is been very welcoming and love that
while at other stops such as Lakeland
or Maitland, that people ask, “hey,
aren’t you guys the same guys at the
Winter Garden Farmers Market?”
Jennifer and Fernando’s inspiration
to start the company was simply their
love for food and passion for trying
different types of cuisine, Mexican
being their favorite. Fernando, a
self-taught chef, loves cooking and the
recipe for their tamale is his origi-
nal recipe, as are all of their sauces.
They were also inspired to bring true
original Mexican street food to Cen-
tral Florida, as they recall from their
days in Mexico City. They wanted
to change the perception of Mexican
food, and help people determine the
difference between Mexican food and
Tex-Mex.

The most gratifying part of making
this business happen, Jennifer says, is
how awesome it has been to change the
mindset of clients who have a different
idea of Mexican cuisine after trying
theirs. “But by far the most gratifying
thing is having customers return to us
and tell us that our tamales are the best
tamales they have ever tried. We’ve
had some Mexican people return to
tell us that our tamales are better than
their abuelas (Grandmother’s)! This
is huge to us to have a Mexican like
another Mexican’s food!”
What is a food item that you are par-
ticularly proud of?
