NATIONAL VODKA DAY
Each year on October 4 th is the
celebration of National Vodka Day
in the United States.
It is by the distillation of fermented
substances such as grains, potatoes, or
sometimes fruits or sugar, that vodka
is made.
Traditionally prepared vodkas have
an alcoholic content of percent by
volume. In the United States, products
sold as vodka must have an alcoholic
content of 30 percent or more.
“On the rocks” is a popular way you
may see vodka ordered, however it
is also commonly used in cocktails
and mixed drinks such as: Bloody
Mary, Screwdriver, Sex on the Beach,
Moscow Mule, White Russian, Black
Russian, Vodka Tonic, Vodka Martini,
etc.

OCTOBER 2017
The versatile, once virtually tasteless
and odorless tipple accounts for
almost 20 to 25 percent of spirits
sold today in North America, making
it our most popular libation, a feat
that occurred in the 1970s when
it outpaced bourbon as America’s
favorite spirit. We raise our glass on
October 4 th to toast National Vodka
Day!
