6. My cats, Butters and Dub Dub, “making biscuits”
on me because I’m their person.
7. Slipping into my warmest slippers because my
husband apparently thinks we live in the Arctic.
8. Wearing the perfume my husband bought me years
ago on one of our anniversaries at Epcot’s Food & Wine
Festival, the smell of which transports me back to that
moment every time I wear it (Laila, The Essence of
Norway by Geir Ness, $43 on Amazon/$60 at Epcot).
9. Driving through the gorgeous colors of dusk.
10. My makeup skills. They’re impressive, if I do say
so myself.
11. A good 80’s comedy movie on a rainy afternoon –
think John Candy/Chevy Chase
12. Cracking up so hard with my best friend that I can
barely prevent a possible pee situation.
13. The smell of anything coffee! It reminds me of
mornings, which instantly relaxes me because every
day is a new day.
14. The stranger who said I could be a model. I can’t
believe I met Stevie Wonder!!!
15. Being absolutely incredible at baking a killer
pumpkin bread that would even knock Julie Child’s
apron off.
16. Pimple popping videos.
17. Finding and indulging in a real, properly executed
slice of NYC-style white pizza.
18. Dub Dub puking up a fur ball on the tile floor
instead of the carpet. Hallelujah, it’s a true miracle!
19. For the itsy-bitsy tree frog suctioned to our sliding
glass door who greets me in the mornings and taunts
my cat, Butters.
What are the simple everyday things that you are grateful
for? Since I work from home, my gratitude journal is
filled with everyday family/home blessings – but I’m sure
many of you experience bursts of gratitude on your way
to work or in the office! Try jotting them down like I did,
and if you feel an Autumn gloom starting to bring you
down you will have a heap of things to be thankful for
to help launch you back into the Thanksgiving mindset!
