Dad Talk

A Chat with Chris Krepcho
Winter Garden resident and Florida native Chris Krepcho was born and raised in the South Florida area near Ft . Lauderdale ( and , yes , he misses being close to the beach !). He has four children : three beautiful daughters ( Raegan-9 , Austyn-8 , and Carson-5 ) and a son ( Camden-4 ). In 2004 , Chris graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Finance and began his career with KPMG in their management consulting practice . After traveling a lot domestically over 9 years with KPMG , Chris decided to wind down the business travel to be able to participate in his kids ’ lives more – as they were becoming more active in school and in extracurricular activities . For the past 4 years , he has been working for the Florida League of Cities . You ’ re probably asking yourself “ what is a league of cities ? … Simply put , the Florida League of Cities is the united voice for Florida ’ s municipal governments , and has served cities for nearly a century . In addition to advocating for city interests , the League provides ongoing training and offers a host of resources , including insurance and financial services . Chris ’ position at the League is Associate Director of Insurance Services . The League is a great organization and Chris feels blessed to have an excellent career , to be able to work with awesome people , and have a much better travel and work-life balance . I am a single dad and have my kids three nights per week , which includes the weekends . So , in my

spare time ( ha ha ), I play on a co-ed softball team , help coach my daughters ’ softball team , and I try to exercise 3-4 days per week ( which realistically probably means 2-3 days per week ). Most of my time when I ’ m not at work I spend with my children . We go to theme parks , concerts , sports games , movies , circuses , travel to visit family and their cousins , or just a little R & R and swim in the pool while getting kissed by the sun . Occasionally , I can sneak in a game of golf – either work-related or with my father who taught me the game when I was a kid . Last Christmas , I took my two older daughters to New York City , which is beautiful during the holidays – that was a pretty cool trip ! This month , we are going to Gatlinburg ( TN ) to visit the Smokies which I haven ’ t been back to since my childhood ( the circle of life ). I am looking forward to spending a week with nature and my kids – swimming holes , white water rafting , zip lining , Dollywood , etc . I love to be active with the kids , but also like the occasional weekend to just chill and relax with them . It really doesn ’ t matter what we are doing – as long as we are together .
