artist spotlight FABU Pottery Strolling around the Farmers Market one Saturday morning, we came across a booth with some amazing and artistic pottery. Fabian Pesci runs his business, FABU Pottery, there on Saturday mornings, along with a host of other places. What sets his pottery apart from ordinary pieces is that he has a unique style which utilizes textiles and other materials to make impressions on clay in order to create modern, decorative, and practical pieces. The combination of traditional textures on very modern vessels, platters, and trays is indeed beautiful and has become very popular with his clientele. Many of the doilies he uses for pottery come from his travels to different countries in Europe, Central America, and Canada. He has even used sections of a wedding dress for a few pieces! Anything can be utilized or personalized, and the original fabric is then cleaned and left intact. Fabian is originally from Patagonia, Argentina. Born in September 1971, he grew up in a beautiful and pristine part of the world. At age seventeen, he moved to Buenos Aires where he spent seven years and also attended college. In 1998, he came to the United States and worked as a sign language interpreter. Fabian fell in love with our country. He later began helping 40  |  WINTER GARDEN MAGAZINE  |  JUNE 2015 people organize their homes and businesses as a professional organizer. While doing this, he became inspired by some of his more artistic clients. In 2011 I found my passion: pottery. Fabian now spends a great deal of my time working with clay, patterns, and glaze to create FABU Pottery. Fabian enjoys meeting people at the many shows he participates in every week in the Orlando area and continues to look for creative ways to express his artistry. Fabian can be found at the following markets and festivals: Saturdays at the Winter Garden Farmers Market, First Friday of the month in Baldwin Park from 6-930pm, the second Thursday of the month in Thornton Park from 6-930pm, and the third Thursday of the month at 55 West on Church Street in Downtown Orlando from 6-930pm. His work can also be found at Apenberry’s on Edgewater Drive in College Park and at The Gate House in Mt. Dora. Special commissions can be requested by reaching out to Fabian at 407.414.7756 or [email protected]. Stop by the next time you’re wandering the market, enjoy a great morning chat, and check out Fabian’s beautiful work!
