ATTRACTIONS UPDATE

n November, we were once again fortunate enough to
attend the International Association of Amusement
Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) 2017 Attractions Expo
at the Orange County Convention Center. IAAPA is
the premier conference and trade show for the $39.5
billion global amusement park and attractions industry
which draws more than 32,000 industry professionals
from more than 100 countries to Orlando; which also
serves as IAAPA’s global headquarters. The more than
560,000-net-square-foot trade show floor – equating to
9 miles of aisles – is filled with representatives and buyers
from amusement and theme parks, water parks, family
entertainment centers, zoos, aquariums, science centers,
and museums.

This year, the show was heavy with all kinds of VR (Virtual
Reality) and robotics offerings. From immersive game
experiences to fully enhanced ride experiences, designers
showcased their amazing technologies and gave attendees
the opportunity to experience them
firsthand. We had the opportunity
to play a Taiwanese company IGS’
brand new, fully-immersive VR
arcade driving game, Overtake
VR with a 5D motion and effects
robotic platform. The amazing game
transports you into a virtual world,
where you feel every hill, bump, and
