Dear Readers,
It’s beginning to look a lot like…
Every year as this time nears; we all tend to get a little more festive, a little more giving, a little
friendlier, and a little more caring. Love is in the air and we tend to want to do so much for
so many. But, when it’s all said and done, we buy the gifts, we spend the money, we do the
things that we think are important, while we indeed neglect the true meaning of the season.

Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, or Kwanzaa it all comes down to the same
thing. The Holiday Season is a time when we all come together to celebrate what unites us –
what joins us as a people, what makes us whole as a culture or as a community. What really
brings us into togetherness and community is feeling. Here in the WG, we are lucky we have
so many different ways to celebrate the holidays, but it all comes down to the feelings of Joy
and Happiness…and even a little Sadness. These feelings are what makes us human.
I know I will be feeling a little Sad, a little Glad, and lots of Joy.
I can’t wait to see the grandkids in their pjs jumping up and down as they open up their gifts.
While at the same time, I think of all that they are blessed with and how much others do
without.... This year, as I have done for over twenty years so far, I will steal away a gift or two
from under our tree and find it a good home.
