THE CITY OF
WINTER GARDEN
Annual Party in the Park was held on Friday, July 4, 2014. It was a great turn
out of city residents and visitors. Vendors were set up selling delicious
goodies, crafts, jewelry, face painting, etc. while a great band belted out
familiar rock and roll tunes. Strolling through the grounds by Tanner Hall,
families were setting up lawn chairs and blankets in
preparation for the big event. Adults and children showed their patriotism by
dressing in red, white, and blue. The ominous skies threatened rain but not a
drop fell.
As the sun set over Lake Apopka, the moment we all were waiting for came
at 9:15 pm when the evening ended with a spectacular firework display. The
crowd silenced when the first blast occurred. We all watched in awe as the
light show continued. Strangers coming together with pride in celebration of
our country’s independence. We may come from different walks of life but we
came together under the lights to show our pride in being Americans.
