BLEND Winter Food Guide
The Netherlands has a rich history of food and is the second biggest food exporter in the world . As an international student I am still amazed by the variety of food you can find in the supermarket . Although it is challenging to find inspiration and motivation for cooking sometimes , a trip to the supermarket always fills me up with ideas . So , when you think of Dutch food , you often think of fried stuff and potatoes , and I won ’ t lie – that ’ s not far from true . The thing is , that today we have the possibility of cooking and eating almost anything we can wish for . The internet is packed with awesome recipes and cooking videos , and here at BLEND you have me . If we ’ re stuck in the Dutch winter for now , let ’ s at least warm up with some comfort food . I ’ m going to share three different comforting winter meals with you , I ’ ll tell you about their past , their present , and even how to make them or where to buy them at least .
Now just to set things straight , I ’ m a vegetarian , which is why all these dishes will be vegetarian as well , or even vegan . But here I stand before you ( well not really ) and swear not to bore or trigger you with all that vegan / vegetarian preaching , I don ’ t believe in that . But I will tell you that I promise ( 100 % guarantee , get your money back ) that these dishes will be absolutely delicious . I even promise you won ’ t miss all YOUR PROTEIN , nutrition , and vitamins . Yes , you can get all that even on a non-meat diet , consider me the myth smasher / breaker / buster ( however you wanna say it ). And who knows , maybe you ’ ll even choose to skip meat a bit more often .
