Winter Brochure 2020 Online_Winter 2020 Guide | Page 5

Dear Friends, Winter is a wonderful time at the Glenview Park District! Whether you want to stay cozily inside learning a new skill or get outside and brave a chilly nose for the thrill of our ice rinks and sledding hills, the Park District offers something for everyone. Don’t let the exterior of the Interpretive Center fool you when you visit The Grove. The outside may look the same, but inside, you’ll find a marvelous adventure with new interactive exhibits and animal habitats. Staff members at The Grove are putting the finishing touches on the Interpretive Center, and planning an exciting Grand Re-Opening celebration. We can’t wait to invite you inside! A new Glenview Park District website is on its way, sure to deliver better navigation for online visitors. This modern design, coming soon, can be used with different types of devices, and comes with an increased ease of finding everything you need to know about our programs and events. Historic Wagner Farm will soon have a new outdoor Farm Adventure Area designed to promote agricultural education. In addition, new paths and walkways around Wagner Farm will support the nearly 140,000 annual visitors, which include school groups and residents. Look for a summer 2020 opening for this new area, but don’t worry, the rest of Wagner Farm is open for your enjoyment as usual. Construction crews have been hard at work this fall on the renovation of the Glenview Ice Center. A massive Storm Trap Detention System was installed underneath the location of the new Jennifer Roberts President jennifer.roberts@ glenviewparks.org William Casey Vice President william.casey@ glenviewparks.org parking lot for the benefit of both the Park District and the Village of Glenview’s fire station. Above ground, the steel beams of the grand hall, reception area, offices and pro shop have gone up. Phase Two of the structural steel work for the second rink and the studio rink has just started. Check out the new RapidShot and RapidHands training equipment! These pieces are destined for the renovated facility in fall 2020, but will be operated out of Glenview Park Golf Club this season. • A rezoned land donation to the Park District has added an additional 1.56 acres at The Grove of dedicated public land. • We have completed exterior restroom installation at Flick Park, a priority identified in the 2017 community survey. • We continue to enhance storm water management and drainage for residents near Cunliff Park, Manor Park and Willow Park. Your favorite holiday and winter events at the Glenview Park District are a great reason to look forward to the coming winter season. Thank you for providing input and your support of our various projects, and for enjoying the autumn with us.
