a beautiful love song

Music can speak to a person ’ s soul . A song can bring people together , evoke emotions and unite hearts . Elizabeth and Troy ’ s romantic journey is not just a love story , but a love song . Friends at Central High School and in choir together , these two song birds did not start dating until they reconnected in college . Both were part of the Missouri State Chamber Chorus and in the summer of 2019 , on a chorus trip to Dublin , Ireland , Troy staged the perfect engagement . Knowing Elizabeth wanted a private engagement , he took just the two of them to a fairy castle on the top of a hill overlooking the city of Dublin at sunset and asked her to marry him . The next morning , surrounded by their friends , the entire MSU Chamber Chorus celebrated with the newly engaged couple .
With December graduation , a pending job and graduate school in California looming , Troy Robertson and Elizabeth Kay Lee decided to get married just 6 months later on December 22 , 2019 . Their families and friends pitched in planning the details and helped to quickly put together a magical wedding . Elizabeth and Troy advise future brides and grooms to lean on your support system , “ I knew I wanted things to be beautiful , but did not have a clear vision . Everyone collaborated and made it even better than I could have even imagined .”
Elizabeth found her perfect wedding dress at Normans Bridal . Thinking ahead , she then decided to go to Macy ’ s and bought an extravagant necklace and earrings to compliment her gown . She says , “ I wanted to purchase something that would be an heirloom that I could pass down to my children . I knew I would only wear the dress once , but hope to share this meaningful jewelry with our future daughters and they will know how much I loved their Dad when we got married .”
The Robertsons got married at Southern Charm Estate in Mt . Vernon , Missouri . It was the perfect venue for their ceremony and reception because of it ’ s beautiful chapel with gorgeous windows where they could have the ceremony , then move right over to the adjoining ballroom for the dinner and reception . Elizabeth did not want her guests to have to wait outside in December while a venue flipped the room . Southern Charm Estate could accommodate this request .
Before the wedding started , Troy and Elizabeth shared a first look . “ Seeing Troy ’ s heartfelt emotions as he saw me for the first time was just what I needed . The tension and nerves just melted away .”
At the wedding , their love story came full circle . They got engaged on a MSU Chamber Chorus tour and then their chorus friends performed at the ceremony , beginning their married life together with something so special to both of them – beautiful music . Troy ’ s mother is Jewish , so they also incorporated some Jewish traditions into their wedding . They got married under a chuppah and following Jewish custom , broke a glass at the ceremony . Unfortunately , but hilariously , the bag that encased the glass burst as Troy ’ s emphatic foot stomp launched chards of glass across the room , sending the bridal party for cover !
Elizabeth knew she did not want a Christmas themed wedding , so they chose to use deep purple , white , black and gold decor to make the event feel wintery and beautiful . Cakes by Crystal not only made a wedding cake for the bridal party , but also made winter themed cupcakes like gingerbread , red velvet and sugar cookies . Dining by Design created a warm , comforting , delicious dinner of honey glazed pork with rosemary potatoes and vegetables . The DJ from Complete Wedding + Events even posed the entire group , guests and all , for a “ couple ’ s first photo .” It is a treasured keepsake of the Robertsons !
The love song that still brings Elizabeth to tears is the song Troy chose for their first dance . “ The End of All Things ,” by Panic ! at the Disco was written as wedding vows for the lead singer ’ s wife . Troy used to sing this song with his acapella group and knew all the words and sentiments behind the lyrics perfectly captured his love for Elizabeth .
Music brought this couple together and music made this wedding a beautiful love song . XmW
