love lingers longer

Life after high school can be a whirlwind of firsts for many young adults – perhaps it ’ s your first grown-up job or your first real apartment . Or maybe , it ’ s those coveted sparks that find you when you lock eyes with someone across a crowded room . Well , for recent high school graduate , Megan Overby , the latter idyllically applies . Only , the sparks between Megan and Wyatt weren ’ t felt across a crowded room full of people , they were ignited at an intimate gathering hosted by a mutual friend of theirs during the summer of 2017 .
Upon their first encounter , Megan and Wyatt were instantly connected . There was a magnetism that sparked their respective interests , however , being equally shy , neither Megan nor Wyatt could muster enough courage to make the first move . Noticing the chemistry between the two of them , friends of the soon-to-be couple arranged a meeting upstairs , privy to neither Megan or Wyatt ’ s knowledge . After a gentle nudge , the two bonded quickly , practically forgetting that there were people waiting for them downstairs ! What began with a tentative first encounter soon gave way to a full-blown relationship .
As their romance progressed , the couple fell fast for each other . Megan fondly recalls the day of their engagement , which happened to be Mother ’ s Day . “ It was one of those days where everything is going perfect ,” recounts the bride . As the couple readied themselves for a dinner to celebrate Megan ’ s mother , Wyatt decided the time was right . Having carried a ring around in his pocket for weeks , he knew that there wouldn ’ t be a better day than the current one . After calling Megan from their living room , urging her to “ come quick ,” the soon-to-be groom greeted his beloved down on one knee . Tears flowed as Megan embraced her fiancé . Newly engaged and utterly blissful , she was about to embark on the magical journey of wedding planning .
Due to availability of the venue that the couple fell in love with , Greenhouse Two Rivers , the wedding was set for a mere two months away . Being ever the DIY-ers , Megan and her mother awoke every day leading up to the wedding at 7:00 a . m . sharp to complete their three mile , wedding planning hike . Inspired by Megan ’ s extensive Pinterest page , the women were determined to plan a flawless celebration of Megan and Wyatt ’ s love . As the planning quickly came together , Megan was set on finding the perfect attire to make her wedding day impeccable .
Convinced that she longed for a mermaid gown , Megan was surprised when the saleslady encouraged her to purchase a ball gown instead . She remembers the stylist telling her , “ there may be many times to wear a mermaid dress to other events , but there ’ s only ONE event you can wear a ball gown to .” With her princess dress selected , Megan turned to her grandmother for some help with accessories . After surveying her extensive collection of jewelry , Megan couldn ’ t deny a particular pair of earrings that called out to her . Having been in her family since 1900 , the centuries old earrings would make the ultimate “ something borrowed ” for the big day .
Coming together without a hitch , July 12 , 2020 , came about in the blink of an eye . Inspired by the beauty of their naturally elegant venue , Megan and Wyatt relished in the intricate details of their special day . From the crystal chandeliers adorned with greenery to the shady oak tree , beneath which the couple shared intimate , private vows , everything was straight from a movie . A day that started with Megan ’ s father pranking the groom with a jovial ‘ first look ,’ ended with a beautiful last dance between the couple alone . Megan recounts their final dance , set to The Cranberries ’ Linger , as her favorite part of the day . Looking back , Megan remains on cloud nine as she savors the memories of the day she became a Larson . Her advice to future brides is simple . “ There ’ s no need to be nervous because everyone there loves you , so if you fall , they all fall with you and no one will even notice .”
From shy beginnings to enchanting , wedded bliss and a future undoubtedly full of love , it ’ s evident to see that when you have a connection like Megan and Wyatt Larson , love lingers longer . XmB
