MARS GLASS COMPANY
Defining Success
Amir’ s approach has doubled his company’ s projects and revenue year-over-year. As he puts it,“ Although we had a bit of a lull in 2024, we moved through that and Mars Glass is doing very well, thanks to God and our community.” He attributes his success not just to his company’ s efficient internal workings, but also to“ the support I have received from everyone in the community who have been part of helping me get here – including my mentor, the CDP, and my industry colleagues.”
In the near term, he is adding an estimator and project manager, and currently has an administrator to help him with prequalifications, hiring and marketing. He keeps his three full-time installers busy and sometimes hires additional part-time assistants depending on how many projects they are working on.
He emphasizes that having a trained, skilled and dedicated team is not only essential to keep growing the business, but also to meet his longer-term goal of becoming one of the top glazing companies over the next 30 years.“ We have a long way to go, but are taking it step by step. Finding and training the right people gets us ready to take on more and larger projects, so it is a good investment.”
Amir values his employees, treats them well, and feels a big responsibility to them –“ even during the times when I had financial challenges, I did everything to ensure that they got paid on time.”
Besides hiring from within the community, Amir is committed to keeping his business local.“ I love the welcoming community and industry in San Francisco,” he affirms.“ I just moved our fabrication to a much larger shop in downtown San Francisco. Although many people told me that I could save a lot of money by getting a shop outside of the city, I chose to pay more in order to keep my business local.”
He also continues to help others reach their professional goals whenever he can.“ Not long ago, I interviewed someone with a civil engineering background who had applied to work as a coordinator for us; even though she might have been very helpful to us, I referred her to a friend of mine who does a lot more road construction, because his company is a better fit to further her career in civil engineering.”
Amir defines success in broader terms than just reaching his business goals. He always looks for the good in everyone and notes that there is not just one way to be successful.“ Outside success is good, but inside success is also important— at the end of the day, you have to be happy with who you are. If I go to the gym to take care of my body, what am I doing to take care of my soul? We can each start by doing something small for someone else and then do more for others as we grow.”
Amir currently donates to some fundraisers within his community, but looks forward to being able to do more as his company grows. He is especially interested in helping
