Melinda Miller is a Professor of Literacy at Sam Houston State University. Her research interests include early literacy, writing, and emergent bilingual students. Dr. Miller is author of Finding the Magic: Emergent Readers and Writers and is co-author of Reading and Writing with English Learners: A K-5 Framework with Valentina Gonzalez and Forming Minds: Delving Deeply into Reading and Writing Development with Jolene Reed.

Jolene Reed is an Associate Professor in the READ Program of the School of Teaching and Learning at Sam Houston State University. Her research interests include emerging literacy learners, struggling readers, and teacher preparation. She, along with Melinda Miller, is co-author of the book, Forming Minds: Delving Deeply into Reading and Writing Development.
