still remember the painful , yet fascinating ,
I experience I had with the ELD class .
I was in 4th grade at that time , which was one year after I transferred to SLAS and I was quite lucky to go back to regular class from ESL within a short time . We used to call ELD “ ESL ,” which refers to English second language . I do not really know why they changed the name , but I still prefer calling the class ESL .
As I said , I went back to regular class in 4th grade and I did expect to adapt to the environment quickly and have more friends . The thing is if you were in an ESL class , you tend to not have a strong relationship with the regular class ’ s kids since they have different classes from you . So that is why I desired to blend into the regular class environment .
I used to be a timid girl , and I didn ’ t like to talk to others , especially interacting with the teacher . I remembered we used to have a workbook that contain stories and analyzing questions that we needed to do , and in the English class , which is the whole morning class , we would read the stories , do some questions , and sometimes write our own essays . So , each time when the wildcat teacher who is the English teacher would ask questions about the stories I never answered because I was afraid to give the wrong answer .
