Subj : AUXILIARY CULINARY ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR AUTHORIZATION
1 . The Auxiliary Culinary Assistance ( AUXCA ) Program Standard Operating Procedures ( AUX- SOP-005 ( A )) issued on June 18 , 2021 launched the AUXCA program ’ s replacement of the legacy Auxiliary Food Service ( AUXFS ) program . Legacy AUXFS program participants had their AUXFS competency subsequently converted to AUXCA-1 Specialist in AUXDATA II .
2 . Legacy AUXFS Instructors are also authorized to have that competency converted to AUXCA Instructor ( AUXCA-IT ) and reflected as such in AUXDATA II . Accordingly , they are authorized to continue performing AUXCA program PQS task sign-offs in accordance with AUX-SOP-005 ( A ).
3 . The Auxiliary national Culinary Assistance Division Chief ( DVC-HC ) will work with the culinary assistance program District Staff Officers ( DSO ) to identify all legacy AUXFS Instructors that are eligible to be assigned the AUXCA Instructor competency . Those assignments will be made in AUXDATA II by the office of the Chief Director of Auxiliary ( CG-BSX ).
4 . Internet release is authorized .

Subj : AUXILIARY AVIATION PPE and DAY / NIGHT PYROTECHNIC FLARES UPDATE - CG-BSX POLICY LETTER 21-04
To all Coast Guard Auxiliary Personnel :
1 . On 17 December 2021 , the Chief Director of the Auxiliary signed CG-BSX Policy Letter 21- 04 , Auxiliary Aviation PPE and day / night pyrotechnic flares update . The purpose of this policy letter is to update Auxiliary aviation Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE ) policies in the Auxiliary Operations Policy Manual , COMDTINST M16798.3 ( series ), Annex 1 , section D .
2 . Day / night pyrotechnic flares are to be removed from Auxiliary aircraft and replaced with at least one Coast Guard approved electronic Visual Distress Signaling Device ( eVDSD ) onboard the aircraft by 01 June 2022 or by the expiration date of the pyrotechnics currently onboard the aircraft if that is prior to 01 June 2022 , whichever date comes first .
3 . The eVDSD replaces the nighttime portion of the pyrotechnic . The dye marker or sea rescue device , as required air crewmember survival equipment , replaces the day portion of the pyrotechnic .
4 . All District Directors of Auxiliary ( DIRAUX ), Operations Training Officers ( OTO ), and Auxiliarists must comply with the provisions in this Policy Letter .
