AUX SUPPORT REQUEST – Operations Duty Officer ( Watchstander )
1 . Description of Duties :
Operations Duty Officer ( ODO ): The ODO watch is 24 hours long relieving at 0800 daily . The ODO watch shall be manned 24-hours per day . When not required to be in the Operations Center ( OPCEN ) the ODO may relocate the watch elsewhere ( e . g ., the Wardroom or ODO bunkroom ) once classified materials and storage containers are properly secured and calls can be answered via forwarding or long-range cordless handset . The ODO shall assist the Senior Duty Officer ( SDO ) as required and to complete the following daily responsibilities at a minimum :
· Open the OPCEN at 0730 or 15 minutes prior to the first flight ’ s ramp time .
· Shall account for all classified material in the ODO safe and ensure the Classified Work Space ( CWS ) is secure ( Need SECRET security clearance )
· Shall inventory all Night Vision Goggles ( NVG ) and Heads Up Displays ( HUD ).
· Check the ODO email account and C2 Official Information Exchange ( C2OIX ) message traffic and ensured logs are complete .
· Preparing the morning Operations Brief .
· Act as primary point of contact for the Air Station . Field telephone calls from outside the unit .
· Field Prior Permission Required ( PPR ) requests for transient aircraft .
· Closely monitor the weather and notify airborne crews of the nature and severity of unforecasted weather phenomena as necessary . Be cognizant of Notices to Airmen ( NOTAM ), Temporary Flight Restrictions ( TFR ), and active Special Use Airspace ( SUA ) that may affect operations .
· According to POTUS Executive Order 13991 , CDC Guidance and CG ALCOAST 285 / 21 , all personnel , to include Auxiliarists , must wear a mask inside USCG operated buildings , regardless of the ability to maintain social distancing and regardless of vaccination status .
2 . Skillset Needed :
· Be capable to obtain a SECRET security clearance in order to handle classified material . The AIRSTA will start the application process once candidates have been identified .
· Be able to get access to various CG systems ( Log into government computers , ALMIS , MISLE , etc .)
· Be able to work under the supervision of an active duty ODO with minimal oversight . 3 . Timeline Needed :
Shifts from 0800-1600 with the possibility of extending hours depending on proficiency and mission requirements . Maximum watch period could be once or twice per week ( depending on availability ) from 0800-0800 .
