LUCAS WYNNE
Lucas Wynne is an attorney and the owner of Wynne Law , a solo practice that handles criminal defense and personal injury matters throughout North Dakota and Minnesota . He is licensed to practice law in North Dakota , Minnesota , and The United States District Court for the District of North Dakota .
Wynne graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Dakota ( UND ) in 2012 with a bachelor of arts in communication and minor in political science . There , he was a recipient of the Russell T . Asleson Scholarship and GL Benner Family Scholarship . After a stint as a marketing strategist , he commenced his legal education at the UND School of Law in 2013 . During law school , Wynne served as a law clerk with Galstad , Jensen & McCann in East Grand Forks and participated as a “ student attorney ” at the UND Law Clinic . Wynne graduated from the UND School of Law in winter 2015 .
His most notable case is likely that of United States v . Hanson ( 1:19-cr-00089 ), which is believed to be one of the largest Ponzi schemes in North Dakota history . Wynne has also represented notable defendants facing federal drug charges , federal child abuse charges , and various offenses in state courts . He considers his injury practice to be a nice change of pace that helps balance his work life and effect positive change in the world .
In his free time , Wynne enjoys spending time with his family , being outdoors , and biking . A person of faith , he believes the role of a lawyer extends to seeing the best in people at the worst times in their lives .
BEAU CUMMINGS
Beau Cummings is the lead attorney at the Devils Lake Public Defender Office . He is licensed in North Dakota and his practice is devoted to representing indigent clients in a variety of criminal and juvenile court matters . Prior to his current position , he worked in the Williston Public Defender Office .
Cummings was born and raised in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School . Before completing his legal education at the University of North Dakota , he earned his bachelor of arts degree with honors from Minnesota State University Moorhead .
During law school , Cummings was actively involved in several student organizations including the Federalist Society , Moot Court , Phi Delta Phi – Bruce Inn , and the Energy Law Association . Other activities included a clerkship at a local real estate , business law , and estate planning firm , externing at the United States Attorney ’ s Office for the District of North Dakota , and serving as the legislative intern assigned to the House Judiciary , Political Subdivisions , and Ethics committees during the 66th Legislative Session .
Professional memberships and associations include SBAND , the Lake Region Bar Association , NDCLCI Standards and Policy Review Committee , and the National Association for Public Defense .
Cummings lives in Devils Lake with his fiancé , Madeline , and their dogs , Toby and Peanut . He enjoys spending time with his family , cooking , golfing , and being outdoors .
