YLS will continue to host luncheons and happy hours across the state for great social networking opportunities starting
again later this summer. If you are interested in hosting, please contact YLS Secretary-Treasurer, Conor Smith at

In addition, the YLS Education and Professionalism Committee will continue to host webinars featuring various
legal topics. Young lawyers, as well as other licensed attorneys, are encouraged to participate in these educational
opportunities to earn continuing legal education credits.
YLS is specifically looking for individuals interested in co-chairing and participating in the YLS Community Service
Committee. The YLS Community Service Committee is responsible for organizing and implementing the Annual Spring

SARAH AABERG
Sarah Aaberg is an
associate attorney with
O’Keeffe, O’Brien, Lyson &
Foss, Ltd. in Fargo. She is
licensed in North Dakota
and Minnesota courts, and
she works in a variety of
practice areas.
Aaberg grew up in
Starbuck, Minn., and graduated from Minnewaska Area
High School. She went on to study at the University
of North Dakota (UND), where she earned a bachelor
of arts degree in psychology. Aaberg continued her
education at the UND School of Law, earning her law
degree. Upon graduation, she was elected to the
Order of the Coif. While in law school, Aaberg was
the technical editor of the North Dakota Law Review,
served as the Helen Hamilton Day Coordinator for Law
Women’s Caucus, and served as a teaching assistant in
the lawyering skills program. Aaberg also completed
an externship at the Northeast Central Judicial District
while in law school, along with clerking at O’Keeffe,
O’Brien, Lyson & Foss. After graduation, Aaberg clerked
for the North Dakota Supreme Court.
Aaberg resides in Fargo with her partner, Travis. In her
spare time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending
time with friends and family.

AUSTIN GUNDERSON
Austin Gunderson is an assistant
state’s attorney for Morton
County. His primary duties are
as a prosecutor in criminal cases
and in juvenile delinquency and
dependency cases, as well as
answering legal questions for
county departments and the Morton
County Commission. Gunderson
has worked at the Morton County
State’s Attorney’s Office since
September 2016.
Gunderson grew up in Bismarck, and competed in football,
basketball, and golf while attending Bismarck High School. He
earned a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from the
University of North Dakota. Gunderson earned his juris doctor
from the University of Montana School of Law in Missoula, Mont.
While in law school, Gunderson interned for the Missoula County
State’s Attorney’s Office, for Dickson Law Office in Bismarck, and
the District Attorney’s Office in Fairbanks, Alaska. While attending
law school and working in Montana and Alaska, Gunderson
enjoyed fly-fishing, hiking, and spending time in the outdoors.
He currently resides in Bismarck and is a member of the Hon.
Bruce M. Van Sickle’s American Inn of Court and of the Bismarck-
Mandan Juvenile Drug Court team. Gunderson enjoys spending
time with his family and friends, playing sports, fishing, and
hunting in his spare time.
