YOUNG LAWYER SHOWCASE
ERICA WOEHL
Erica Woehl is an associate attorney at Bormann, Myerchin & Espeseth, LLP, in Bismarck. She also serves as a contract attorney for the Commission on Legal Counsel for Indigents in the South Central Judicial District.
Woehl is licensed to practice in state and federal court in North Dakota. She is a member of the State Bar Association of North Dakota, the Big Muddy Association, and the North Dakota Defense Lawyers Association. She also joined the Criminal Justice Act Panel and recently had the honor of arguing in front of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Woehl practices in the areas of criminal defense, insurance defense, family law, and general civil litigation.
She graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2014. Upon graduation, Woehl was inducted into the Order of the Coif and the Order of Barristers. She also received her master’ s degree in public administration from the University of North Dakota College of Business and Public Administration in 2014. Woehl graduated from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 2011 with a bachelor of art degree in communication studies and political science.
While in law school, she was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Trial Team. She externed with the Grand Forks Indigent Defense Office and the United States Attorney’ s Office for the North Dakota District in Bismarck. She also clerked for the Robert Vogel Law Office, P. C. After graduation, Woehl was a judicial law clerk for the North Dakota Supreme Court.
Woehl, a Bismarck native, is an active member and volunteer at Evangel. Her most recent interests include building and refurbishing wood furniture. She enjoys a good, oldfashioned game night with friends, family gatherings at the lake, and spending time with her favorite feline, Everest.

In 2013, Jones graduated from the University of North Dakota( UND) with a bachelor of science degree in Psychology. In 2015, she earned her juris doctor with a certificate of specialization in Indian Law from UND School of Law.
AMANDA ENGELSTAD
Amanda Engelstad is an assistant state’ s attorney for Stark County in Dickinson. She grew up in Dickinson and moved to Fargo, where she attended North Dakota State University. Engelstad received a bachelor of science degree, majoring in criminal justice.
After graduating from North Dakota State University, she attended law school at the University of North Dakota Law School, where she earned her juris doctorate in 2015. During law school, Engelstad was involved in Phi Alpha Delta and Law Women’ s Caucus. She was also a member of the Energy Law Association. Engelstad spent her summers clerking with the Dickinson Public Defender’ s Office.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Mark, and her dog, Kahote, as well as running, hiking, spending time in the Badlands, kayaking, and traveling.
