Evoking 1940’ s Hollywood glamor designers, Trevor Ciona and Curtis Elmy create a rainbow of color in gray, black, and white. In a 2,138 sq. ft bungalow, the designers evoke a space for homeowners, and their children, who entertain with a confident voice. The designers comment,“ This was a new build.”
The designers note,“ The main floor includes a kitchen and dining area, a living room separated from the kitchen by a double sided fireplace and a den off of the living room. The master suite with ensuite bath and walk-in closet is accessed by a hall off the main entry with a powder room.”
Gray is a color trend the designers use generously.“ You have to make sure the hues are right and by mixing textures, you give more margin for error and keep things interesting.”
Consider as well rhythm, line, patterns and materials when creating unity in a room.“ The process is all about layering – finding a solid neutral base. You need a strong understanding of the furniture’ s scale.”
The den speaks with sophistication. Whimsy is found in the zebra rug, the leopard print, antlers, and ceiling’ s“ malachite” wallpaper.“ It was a bold decision to paint the walls a deep charcoal color, but it creates a cozy atmosphere.”
The living room is intimate, centred around a fireplace and a charcoal couch. Four‘ club’ chairs invite conversations.“ The fabric is a cut velvet, a definite splurge.” The room’ s sleek city talk is balanced by the ottomans’ rustic dialect. Whispered warmth is found in the room’ s gold touches.
