WHO WE ARE 2025 • GUIDING PRINCIPLES
BUILT ON VALUES, DRIVEN BY PURPOSE
Long before there was a handbook or a list posted on the wall, Larry and I used simple sayings and values that reflected how we lived. They weren’ t just words; they were the beliefs that guided every decision we made— about our family, our businesses and our relationships.
– Gail Miller
At the 2025 Larry H. Miller Leadership Summit, members of the executive leadership team and the Miller family reflected on the company’ s guiding principles— values that shape decisions, culture and long-term impact across every platform.
Protect the Legal, Moral and Financial Wellbeing of the Company
Sarah Starkey and Ian McDonald traced this principle back to Larry H. Miller’ s commitment to“ protect the base.” What began as financial prudence evolved into a broader responsibility— safeguarding the
Gail Miller company’ s legal standing, moral compass, and financial strength.
Quoting Greg Miller, Ian reinforced that this guiding principle is rooted in integrity:“ I think of our reputation as a form of currency that allows us to do things that few others can because of the trust and the faith and the reputation that we have.”
Sarah reminded the group that protecting the legal, moral, and financial wellbeing of all the business entities comprising the Larry H. Miller Company is up to every employee:“ By acting with integrity, making prudent financial choices, and modeling compliance every day, we build something lasting— not just for today, but for generations of employees to come.”
Be a Student. Be a Teacher. Be a Leader.
Michelle Smith and Steve Starks described this principle as a continuous cycle rather than a hierarchy. Learning leads to teaching, and teaching cultivates leadership.
“ Being a student, teacher, and leader is about forming bonds across teams, sharing knowledge, and inviting others to step up and lead. It is ultimately about trust,” said Steve, underscoring the importance of learning and growth.
